The President of the Society is the academic leader of the American Laser Society and is responsible for the important core agenda decisions of the Society. The President of the Institute is elected from among the most influential international experts in the field for a term of one year. Professor Zhong Minlin has long been engaged in the academic research of laser processing and manufacturing. His research interests include laser micro-nano manufacturing, laser surface engineering, laser additive manufacturing and new material preparation. He has undertaken a series of achievements in completing 19 international cooperation projects, more than 40 national key R&D projects, 973 projects, major international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, key projects and enterprise cooperation projects. Professor Zhong has been active in the international laser manufacturing academic field for a long time, and has made conference reports and invitation reports at numerous international and domestic academic conferences. He served as the chairman of the international conference, co-chairman and chairman of the national conference. His research results and academic influence have been highly recognized by international counterparts. Professor Zhong Minlin also serves as Chairman of the International Society for Optoelectronics and Laser Engineering from 2015 to 2017.
